Remote work has reshaped not only how we work, but where we choose to live. Just a short flight from Palermo, Malta has been developing its own response to this shift through the Nomad Residence Permit. This talk shares the story behind the programme — why it was created, who it serves, and how it's shaping up. It's not just about a permit, but about mobility, community, outreach and Mediterranean living.
Malta’s Nomad Residence Permit allows non-EU nationals to retain their remote employment based in another country while legally residing in Malta. The permit is issued for one year and may be renewed annually up to three times, allowing a maximum stay of four years. The permit is administered by Residency Malta Agency, the government entity responsible for managing and promoting various temporary and permanent residency programmes. Through these programmes, third-country nationals can obtain residency in a safe and stable jurisdiction with access to business opportunities while enjoying a Mediterranean lifestyle.
